In the first quarter of 2014, the Offshore Painting (OTE/4) team set out to find a better solution for Blasting & Painting activities from High Risk to at least medium or low risk, environmentally friendly, safer as to move from a Hot work permit to Cold work permit, offer protection for sensitive live equipment, allowed concurrent activities, reduced dust pollution from medias and especially, cost effective overall.

The search for these requirements zeroed down to Vapour Abrasive Blasting equipment manufactured by ECOQUIP ®, Which is a high end technology of Vapour Abrasive Blasting for the coating removal and surface preparation.

It is an Eco-friendly type of equipment whereby Green Technology aspect was a major factor in Oil & Gas industry. ECOQUIP ® was identified and approved after much research and testing onshore in which several teams namely, EOP/1, EOP/2, WOP, AES/4, AED/14 and HSE witnessed the demonstration.

Due to its convincing capabilities, East Operations (EOP) initiates trial at Champion Drilling Platform, CPDP7, as a trial platform to see the equipment's advantages.
